“Would you like a cup of tea?”– were the first words I heard when I stepped into Broadway Silver HQ – and it was from that moment that I knew I would fit right in.
I was offered the role of a Social Media Executive in early July, and from the moment I received the call I felt excited – I just wanted to get stuck straight in. To be perfectly honest with you, I then felt a mixture of emotions: nervousness, anticipation, anxiousness, excitement – as one could only expect. This was the first real opportunity I had been given to work in the fields I wanted to work in, since completing my degree late last year, and it felt promising. I wanted to prove to myself that I was – and am – capable of achieving anything I put my mind too – as my family often remind me.
On my very first day, I remember meeting the members of the Broadway team, and experiencing this very warm and welcoming feeling from everyone I met. Whilst meeting the team, I also had a tour of the factory – which was established in 1901, in the reign of Queen Victoria. It was then I got to see how all the beautiful and handcrafted silverware products were being made.
It was the stages of getting to view the process for myself on how the pieces of silverware were crafted into such elegant products, that I could not help but find myself so fascinated with. It was also getting to see the actual tools that were used to bring these products to life – the very tools that were also originally used over a hundred years ago – that interested me in the history of Broadway Silversmiths.
I have always found myself to be quite curious about history, and yet it was nothing quite like I expected – you can see how much effort and time goes into the designing and crafting of every single piece of silverware. You can see how skilled the Broadway Silver craftsmen truly are in every unique design. From spinning and stamping, right to polishing and getting the silver Hallmarked – the royal seal of approval – the process is astonishing.
But the end result and final product is certainly worth the wait – from frames, pillboxes, hairbrushes, drinks-ware, table-ware and candlesticks – the list is endless. You definitely have quite a selection to choose from here at Broadway Silversmiths.
With the consuming world evolving, and the generations becoming more curious and attentive to the details of how things are made, as well as the history behind each product and business. Here at the Official Broadway Silvermiths Website, you can now get a glimpse into what goes on behind the scenes of a Silversmiths – this is where my role comes in. You can also find us on LinkedIn and Instagram, where you will be able to see sneak peaks of all the silverware produced. So, feel free to follow us on our social media sites and comment your thoughts. We will love to hear from you!
With Love From,
